Upon entering Las Hamacas, the lower level garden atrium with its double high ceiling greets guests with a feeling of cool, inviting hospitality. The living area is straight ahead and has a large L shaped couch that faces sliding glass doors and the azul water of the Caribbean Sea. To the left of the living room is a fully equipped kitchen and dining area.

The lower floor ocean view bedroom has a Queen bed, sliding glass doors to the beach, and a private bath, which offers a sunken tub as well as a shower. The upper floor master suite has a Queen bed, a glass door offering access to a large sundeck overlooking the Caribbean. This room also has an en-suite bathroom which includes a sunken tub and a shower. The third bedroom has a Queen bed and is located in guest house/Casita by the front garden. It also has a kitchen and full bathroom.

There are huge terraces with palapa roofs that really give this villa incredible charm as well as gorgeous murals painted on the living room and dining room walls. All rooms in the main house have an ocean view and the guesthouse has a lovely garden view.

The beach here is beautiful and the snorkeling along the protected reef is excellent. The water entrance can be rocky, reef shoes or swim fins are recommended. South Akumal beach is a nesting area for several species of endangered sea turtles. If you are lucky enough to vacation here from July-October, you may get to see females come ashore to dig nests and lay their eggs or a nest hatch at night. Baby sea turtles hatch through late September. Please be careful not to trample sand mounds/nests on the beach, shine bright lights out on the beach during these months, or use flash photos as this disrupts the turtle's reproductive cycle.
